Every year leaders of Churches of Christ get together for Magarey Lectures. It's a great opportunity to connect with each other and engage with some quality professional development. This year we have invited Keith Farmer from the Australian Christian Mentoring Network to speak into a vitally important topic for us. "Building Resilience in Christian Ministry". If you are involved in Christian ministry in any capacity then this is for you.
Greg Elsdon, State Minister for Churches of Christ SA & NT will be leading the bible studies over the 3 days titled, 'Jesus and his Disciples at Cross-Purposes'
See our events section for more details. The lectures are held all day August 9th 10th as well as a half day on August 11th.
Can't come during the day? Come along to our free public lecture by Keith Farmer on Tuesday night August 9th at 7:30pm.
All lectures are held at Western Communities Church of Christ in Mile End. See 'events' for more details. The Program for the 3 days is attached below
Did you know this time next week Tabor Higher Education College is having an open day?
Life FM will be broadcasting live from Tabor College. There will be a BBQ happening at noon and the cafe in the hub will be open serving espresso coffees
This is a great opportunity to explore vocational options in ministry, education, youth work, counselling and more. See our events page for details.
Kat Shanahan from the Blackwood Church of Christ joined our State Ministry Team one day per week from January 2016, as the Peer Group Supervisor for Vetamorphus, a Certificate 3 course for high school students in Christian Leadership and Theology. I graduate of Vetamorphus in 2013, Kat is working under the supervision of her former Peer Group Supervisor, Mark Riessen. She facilitates a group of 7 students from 4 different churches who meet every week at the Marion Church of Christ youth centre.
Keep praying for Kat as she leads the group through their final workbook for the year. In Semester 1 they completed 2 Workbooks working through bible studies, seminar presentations on cultural and biblical topics, reflecting on ministry practice, journaling and learning a lot about Christian discipleship.
Vetamorphus has provided a fantastic collaborative Christian leadership development platform shared across multiple Churches of Christ churches in Adelaide's south and we hope this continues to be a tools utilized in our churches.
In year 11 or 12 or know someone who is? Interested in Vetamorphus for 2017? This is a fully integrated SACE approved VET course. We'd love to hear from you if you would like to be part of next years group.
We're delighted to welcome Gary Gower, who has joined us on a temporary assignment to assist the State Ministry Team to implement a new information system which will assist us in more effectively managing church contacts and interactions, as well as provide functionality for areas such as event management and ChildSafe.
An Accounting graduate, Gary will bring his wisdom and Christian mission experience to bear in helping us implement a solution based on the application “Infoodle”, which will benefit all of us enormously in improving how we communicate and interact together.
